The goal of the project “Friends don’t count chromosomes” is to provide children from the Brčko District of BiH, who have been diagnosed with Down syndrome, with a safe environment with a special plan and work program with professional associates with the aim of advancing their development and easier socialization.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION 

The realization of the project “Friends don’t count chromosomes” would provide children from the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who have been diagnosed with Down syndrome, a safe environment with a special plan and program of work with professional associates to promote their development and easier socialization in the community. Through educational and rehabilitation treatment in cooperation with a special educator, and social education, training of social skills of psychologists and pedagogues, the goal is to affirm users for development, community living and non-violent communication. It also aims to work on user self-actualization, developing a sense of self-worth and a positive self-image. Through our activities, we plan to provide support to the parents of our users, both psychological and support in exercising their rights as parents of children with disabilities.

For the realization of this project, the Government of the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina approved 7,670.00 BAM out of the requested 13,670.00 BAM.
